About Alyssa's Light
Alyssa’s Light was created in memory of Alyssa Peterson to bring hope, healing, and advocacy to young people and families. Our work led to Alyssa’s Youth Concussion and Mental Health Protection Act (Alyssa’s Act), first passed in Colorado, which connects concussion education with youth mental health awareness.
Following Alyssa’s death in 2019 after experiencing multiple concussions, our family began searching for answers about the connection between brain health and mental health. What began as a personal journey has grown into a mission focused on advocacy, education, community engagement, and support for families.
Today, Alyssa’s Light is working to make Alyssa’s Act a model for youth concussion and mental health policy across the country. Through partnerships with healthcare professionals, educators, researchers, lawmakers, and community leaders, we also provide education, family resources, and community programs that help young people thrive.
