Alyssa’s Light Concussion Recovery Kits

Practical Tools. Helpful Information.

Recovering from a concussion involves more than physical healing. Alyssa’s Light is launching bilingual Concussion Recovery Kits to families throughout Colorado, providing practical tools, medically reviewed educational resources, and guidance to support both the physical and emotional aspects of recovery.

What's Inside Each Kit?

Designed with families in mind, the kits are expected to include:

  • Concussion Recovery Guides (English and Spanish): Information about physical symptoms, emotional and behavioral changes, recovery strategies, warning signs, and when to seek additional medical care.

  • Comfort and Sensory-Support Items: Sunglasses, an eye mask, and a reusable cold pack to help manage light sensitivity and provide comfort.

  • Practical Recovery Tools: A mini flashlight and notebook to help families navigate daily activities, track symptoms, and record questions.

  • Encouragement and Support: An Alyssa’s Light wristband reminding young people and families that they are not alone.

  • Reusable Drawstring Bag: A convenient way to keep recovery resources together.

Continuing the Mission of Alyssa’s Act

Created in memory of Alyssa Peterson, these kits advance the mission behind Alyssa’s Youth Concussion and Mental Health Protection Act (Alyssa’s Act), reinforcing the importance of recognizing and addressing both the physical and mental health effects of concussions.

Through education, advocacy, and compassionate support, Alyssa’s Light is working to help families feel more informed, supported, and empowered throughout recovery.
